You have to specify the BAR_BSALIB_PATH in your $ONCONFIG. Which is normally located in the lib directory of you backup client software. I think you mean "ISM". Hi Nagarjuna, I use omni back as storage manager. My path for example is BAR_BSALLIB_PATH /opt/omni/lib/libob2informix_64bit.sl Set this in your onconfig file and you should be OK or until the next error. Hi, [ I guess you mean ISM (Informix Storage Manager) and not ISAM (Index Sequential Access Method) ... ? ] OK. ISM needs a minimum setup which for testing purposes I usually do with a script like the following : ism_startup -init ism_add -admin informix@onbarfix ism_add -device /work/martinfu/731/nsr_data -type file ism_add -device /work/martinfu/731/nsr_logs -type file ism_op -label /work/martinfu/731/nsr_data -volume data1 -pool ISMData ism_op -label /work/martinfu/731/nsr_logs -volume logs1 -pool ISMLogs ism_op -mount /work/martinfu/731/nsr_data ism_op -mount /work/martinfu/731/nsr_logs The 2 directories "nsr_data" and "nsr_logs" need to exist before you run these commands as user "root". Having run these commands, you'll have : - ISM setup with two pools named "ISMData" and "ISMLogs", - the devices associated with these 2 pools are those 2 directories, - the devices are of type "file", which means "volumes" will be created as files in the two directories. No need to change "tapes" with this setup. It'll work without further interaction until the disks are full ... - a link with default name in /usr/lib pointing back to ISM's XBSA library. This is created by the "ism_startup -init" command. After this you only run "ism_startup" and "ism_shutdown" to start and stop the ISM. Don't run "ism_startup -init" again as it will loose all the data archives so far ... Now the $ONCONFIG values that go with the above setup of ISM : BAR_ACT_LOG /work/martinfu/731/bar_act.log BAR_DEBUG_LOG /work/martinfu/731/bar_debug.log BAR_DEBUG 0 BAR_MAX_BACKUP 0 BAR_RETRY 1 BAR_NB_XPORT_COUNT 10 BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE 31 BAR_PROGRESS_FREQ 1ISM_DATA_POOL ISMData # If the data pool name is changed, be sure to ISM_LOG_POOL ISMLogs ALARMPROGRAM /work/martinfu/ids/etc/log_full.sh LTAPEDEV /work/martinfu/731/ltape1 where : - "/work/martinfu/ids" is my $INFORMIXDIR, - "/work/martinfu/731/ltape1" is an arbitrary file name. It's only important to note, that it is different from "/dev/null". [ If it would be "/dev/null", then logical logs would be overwritten, but never backed up. ] Since you got the default name for the link in /usr/lib , it's optional to specify this in $ONCONFIG with BAR_BSALIB_PATH. This should be it. I hope I didn't forgat anything. Note: This is a Quick-Start working example setup, e.g. suited for testing. I do not claim, that this is the ultimate configuration for your system. For a production system you have to find your own setup, probably using tapes instead of files, etc. Possibly using a real Storage Manager (e.g. Tivoli, Legato, ...) would make sense as well.
