Further, although you don't tell us anything useful like which version of I4GL you are using and which platform you are using it on, I think you are using either HP-UX or SCO Unix (probably the former). The release notes probably give you notice that you need an extra library (if it isn't standard, the machine notes definitely should mention it). They're in $INFORMIXDIR/release, and you should read them. I think -lstr is a streams library of some sort which is used on a few platforms.
