HELP !! Stored procedures

I am using now INFORMIX-ONLINE 5.01 in Sun-OS. Experimenting with stored procedures, I decided to try the SYSTEM command. The result was: SQL error = -668 ISAM error = -1 ,which means permission problems in UNIX file system. I checked my permissions, then I tried to login as "root" and execute the same procedure. I also tried different UNIX commands, like SYSTEM "echo > /dev/null" or even SYSTEM "" which are not supposed to require any permissions. The result was always the same.
