What language are you using? The problem is that you can't insert 8 bit characters as part of litteral strings without seting up GLS support. If you are using Informix 4GL this isn't supported until ver. 7.2 however. This version is only available by now for a small set of platforms. I have a request in with Informix to find a solution to this for us using SCO Open Server ver. 5.0.x. If someone know of a solution I would be extremely happy to hear about it. If someone posts another question in a week or soo I will report what Informix have come up with.
