There is another bug, B125608, which was fixed in 9.21.UC2. According to information I received in June 2000, the 9.21.UC2 code does work with MD5 passwords. >According to tech support there are no immediate plans to fix it. Is >that correct? In the 9.20 versions, that is correct (no fix intended) -- the fix is in the current 9.21.UC2 version. Now, if you are saying that 9.21.UC2 has not fixed it after all, then that is a different issue altogether. >We happily use a single sign-on system in our organization >(http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/appliance/winbind.pdf). If you have bought the product, you presumably also have support and can also get the upgrades from 9.20 to 9.21 at a very nominal cost. >How can Informix claim to support Linux ("way coool penguin man") but not >bother to fix a crippling bug in their product? >-- >Carrie Coy >SysAdmin >Vermont Department of Corrections -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
Another URL (does not work) relates to PAM/Informix: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/modules.html Thanh In article <932p4m$en9$1@news.xmission.com>, Jonathan Leffler <Jonathan.Leffler@informix.com> wrote: > > On Thu, 4 Jan 2001, Carrie Coy wrote: > >We're trying to implement IDS.2000 9.20.UC2 on Linux. > > There are later versions than that, such as 9.21.UC2, which do have > support for at least MD5 passwords and, I believe, PAM in general. > > >Apparently Informix has still not bothered to fix the long-standing bug > >which prevents PAM password authentication (bug 120510).
