It's not my favorite way to bring the engine down but yes it is safe to
kill the master oninit (the one that is parent to most of the others
and the process group leader). In about a minute the other oninits
will realize that the master is gone and perform a graceful shutdown.
Except for incomplete transactions rolled back and lost this is usually
harmless.
