Actually, yes this can be done. I assume you're only doing this for
testing purposes and wouldn't dare dream of doing this in a
production environment???
The way you do this is to use relative path names for your chunks:
ROOTPATH ./my_chunk
Then you start OnLine from the directory that is the parent of
my_chunk. Do this with both the primary and secondary instances
from 2 different directories. To illustrate:
Make your chunks
cd /primary
touch my_chunk
chmod, chown, etc.
cd /secondary
touch my_chunk
chmod, chown, etc.
Youll be able to use the same INFORMIXDIR, but you'll need separate
onconfig files, because each instance will have to have different
server numbers, DBSERVERNAME, etc. Also, even though both instances
are on the same machine you will still need a network connection since
DR wants to work over the network.
Will a litle experimentation you should be able to make this work.
