The point simply and obviously stated is: Let's look at marketing models that work, and apply some creativity and CONSTRUCTIVE input to this discussion, and above all not trivialize this effort. I will not go quietly into the night on this one. > What needs to happen, as far as the linux question is concerned, is a quiet, > business-oriented discussion of the issues involved--most likely off-line from > this group. It's important to make sure no one out there in c.d.i. who wants to participate in this off-line is excluded. The good news is they are willing to learn and hopefully get this done. The top of this thread started with issues we've already been through, and trivialized the benefits of this past conference. Informix people have risen to the occasion, and I am extremely proud of them for this. On that note I will be as vocal about supporting them as well. Something that we talked about at the conference are the SIGs (Special Interest Groups) that can be formed. Maybe you or Walt can provide me and c.d.i. readers with some direction in this, and indeed take it off-line, into a SIG. How does this work, is there a list-serv for this, etc. > Keep the IIUG and the IUGLC involved along the way and let both help refine > the work in process. > You know I will. :-) (I'll defer the cartoons for later) Tim > Just my opinion. > > Carlton > > ______________________________________________________________________ > > Carlton Doe "It's not *over* until I win!" > DBA Resources, Inc. -- Les Brown > Salt Lake City, UT > > carlton@iiug.org http://www.iiug.org > dbaresrc@xmission.com http://www.xmission.com/~dbaresrc > carlton@errin.dbaresrc.com > > PGP key: finger -l dbaresrc@xmission.com -- Tim Schaefer \\\\|// tschaefe@mindspring.com 6 6 --------------------oOOo---( )---o00o--------- http://www.inxutil.com ==============================================
