Is there a way to print a message to a specific line on the screen even if that line is not in the current window? We are opening a window, and want messages generated to always appear on line 24 (rather than the last line of the window, which may not be screen line 24.) These messages will include help, errors, function key definition. We tried using an embedded C function and the curses library but it always got returned to the last line in the *current* window. We also tried changing the current window, writing the message, then changing back but this took too much time re-drawing all the window stuff and looked bad (all the flashing re-draws.) We are running Informix OnLine version 5.0, 4GL version 4.1 under Ultrix version 4.2A running on Digital DECsystem 5000/240. The application will use Digital VT340 terminals.
