Re: informix odbc header files on linux
Posted in 1998
Hi,
I understand from your posting on our local news server that you're having
problems locating the include files and libraries for the client.
The way it works is that you write (C / Python / Perl...) source that uses the
functions and constants defined in the header files (*.h) and then link the
iODBC driver manager library into the object file. With a dynamic scripting
language like Perl, this is loaded at run-time.
You should check over the odbcsdk/example directory that comes as a part of
OpenLink: the header files used in the sample connection program are:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include "iodbc.h"
#include "isql.h"
#include "isqlext.h"
and the libraries referenced are as follows:
$ grep LIBS Makefile # Uncomment the LIBS line which matches the c compilers needs
LIBS = -L../lib -liodbc
cc $(CFLAGS) -o odbctest -I../include odbctest.c $(LIBS)
You should check your own platform's odbcsdk/example/Makefile, as the compiler
commandline and LIBS variable above vary from OS to OS.
Please let us know if you have further queries.
