Point/Pitch sizes when printing from Informix

Firstly I do not know Informix at all. We have a client that wants to buy a laser printer to replace their line printer. They want to be able to print small (8 point), and their ask what laser printer will do. We believe anything will do, and all that would be required is a printer command string at the top of any of their printed output. Alternatively, maybe we could set the printer to print small from it's own menu.
