No it is not a ridiculous idea, but the way the question is framed seems to indicate that you are unsure of the way to do it. You will need to have Informix Star on the SCO server. This uses TCP/IP to communicate, not IPX/SPX as in Novell. You will need to have both IPX & TCP/IP stacks on each client PC. You will also need Informix Net on each client PC. The ODBC approach is in my limited experience, not fast enough. Windows on its own cannot talk to Informix, so you will need application software that can :-) This is a very common setup, your Informix supplier should be able to help you get it up and running.
