Query to get the name of archive file
Posted in 2014
Topics: Backup & Restore
Hi,
I am required to find the name of the archive/backup file which is created
after executing the backup command: ontape -s -L 0
Can someone tell me the any (sysmaster) query using which i can find the
recently created file name in the backup directory?
I am writing a script in which i need to know the name of the recently creaed
backup file once i execute the backup command?
Does ontape returns the name of the file in any ways?
Please note that in the TAPEDEV parameter, I have not mentioned the name of
the backup file, I have just mentioned the path for the backup directory.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Regards,
Khan
One thing you can do if you are scripting your archives and want to capture
the archive file to copy it offline ( a common thing):
- touch a sentinel file before launching ontape
- after ontape completes you can find the archive file with:
filename = $(find /TAPEDEV/PATH -newer sentinel.file.name)
- Then you can use $filename wherever you need to.
