Visual Basic -> ODBC -> Informix access problem

We're new to Informix, having Informix On-Line Workgroup server running on a Compaq Proliant dual Pentium 133, and Windows NT 3.51 Server. I'm trying to connect to Informix using Visual Basic 3.0 Pro on a WfW 3.11 client, using the Intersolv ODBC driver which comes with the server as Informix CLI 2.50. I have tried several strategies to access the server, but with no success. I send action SQL commands as strings below: sSql = "insert into colours values (""01"", ""white"")" sSql = "update colours set desc = ""black"" where code = ""01""" sSql = "delete from colours where code = ""01""" and execute the function db.ExecuteSQL( sSql ). In all cases there is an error "Invalid cursor state" returned, with error code err = 3146. I have also tried to send direct SQL commands via the "VisualData" sample application which comes with Visual Basic, with the same effect. Other tools as Microsoft Query work fine, but I doubt that they use action commands as I do. Has anyone any idea, of what this means? Is there any known problem with the 16-bit Informix CLI 2.50 ? __________________________________________________________ Kostas Nikolakopoulos ( knick@hol.gr ) http://users.hol.gr/~knick __________________________________________________________
