Can't stop." - NP of Rush Most platforms I have worked on, this is not a problem. Try LET unixcmd = "sh -c 'vi ", filename CLIPPED, "'" If you are unable, programmatically, to remedy this situation, it probably is a TERMCAP/TERMINFO problem. Then it is platform/release dependent. Check the following variables: TERM INFORMIXTERM TERMCAP TERMINFO Depending on the platform/release on 4GL, you will use either TERMCAP or TERMINFO, determined by INFORMIXTERM. TERM defines the entry in the appropriate terminal database. Depending on INFORMIXTERM (termcap/terminto), TERMCAP or TERMINFO will define where the database entries are located. Once you have determined where to look and what entry to look at, you are on your own, termcap/terminfo entries are hightly hardware dependent. Sorry. Any screen activity, after the 'vi' session, should redisplay the screen as it was before the 'vi' session. Try MESSAGE "" Your screen should redisplay. DCT
