(Wish I'd thought of this solution.) ;) The reason for the en_us/0333 is Global Language Support that was introduced in 7.2. This enables the messages and character data to be in languages other than extended ASCII. Also this provides multi-byte character support. en_us/0333 is the American version of English. Type 0333 is the standard Unix dialect of American English. Madison Pruet
