lock problems

We have OWS 7.22 on SCO UNIX and Windows 95 clients. When a program on a client PC locks a table (in exclusive mode) and this client crashes for any reason (as it happens sometimes with W95), the table is still locked. We have to restart the database server to reset the lock. Is there any other possibility than to restart the database server on a running system? Thanks for help, Chris
