ESQL/C - records not being inserted

I have a program that is inserting new records into a table that has serial field as primary key. First record inserts just fine (ie: SQLCODE == 0). Second record insertion returns SQLCODE == 538976288 Third record insertion returns SQLCODE == 1327516745 I have tried defining an insert cursor, defining a staement that includes all 75 fields and executing the statement, etc... basically have tried everything I could find in the FM (ie: book).
