Thanks to those who responded to the question of freeing sqlda allocated by DESCRIBE statement. Now I get a crash in _iqlocatecursor() which is generated by preprocessor for DECLARE CURSOR :CursorName for :StmtId; I do the following for every query struct sqlda far *pDA; 1. PREPARE :StmtId FROM :pszQry; 2. DESCRIBE :StmtId INTO pDA; 3. DECLARE CURSOR :CursorName FOR :StmtId; 4. OPEN CURSOR :CursorName; 5. FETCH :CursorName USING DESCRIPTOR pDA; 6. free(pDA->sqlvar[0].sqldata); 6. free(pDA); 7. FREE :StmtId; 6. CLOSE :CursorName; 8. FREE :CursorName; The crash happens for the 3rd query consistently. Cosmo (simond@informix.com) has kindly responded that there are some problems with far pointers and freeing them in earlier versions. (FYI: He also told, freeing pDA would free sqlvar pointers in pDA as it is allocated in single block). The version of ESQL/C for windows I am using is 5.0.WC1. Has anybody encountered this problem ?. Could anyone please answer to me. Thanks very much. -raj
