Data or Database Replication tools

Dear All : I am looking for the database replication tools. For some reasons, I CANNOT TURN ON the logging of databases. i.e. I cannot use the ER of Informix. Can anyone give me some suggestions about the database replication tools ? Or where can I download some evaluation softwares to try first before buying it ? Thanks. Jung-Hui Cheng cheng@dbtel.com.tw
If you have IDS 7.2x or 7.3x or later then ER is included (all those cdr* executables in $INFORMIXDIR/bin). What is your platform, server type, and versions? If you do not post this we cannot help in a meaningful way. Art S. Kagel jingker cheng wrote: > > Dear All : > > I am looking for the database replication tools. Either you have to use triggers, distributed querries, or log sniffing to replicate data. ER and HDR would both require logging. I realize that you have stated that you can not turn on logging. I'm actually a bit concerned about any system not using any logging. With logging, you get rollbacks as well as recovery. Without logging, you get none and are exposed to possible data corruption. For instance, it is possible that a row will get inserted/update, but for some reason the indexes associated with that table will not be correctly updated. Without logging, there is no way to correct this problem. Logging does not have to be to a tape or to disk. Even logging to /dev/null is enough to be able to do a rollback. It is also enough to be able to use ER and/or HDR. jingker cheng wrote: > Dear All : > > I am looking for the database replication tools. PDRE is a homogeneous/heterogeneous replication engine that supports Oracle, MS SQL, MS Access, Sybase, Paradox, Pervasive, Informix and InterBase platforms. You can find out more at: "www.PeerDirect.com" cheers, Fab In article <382DF959.A21B2937@informix.com>, Madison Pruet <mpruet@informix.com> wrote: > Either you have to use triggers, distributed querries, or log sniffing > to replicate data.
