There seems to be a Dummies : > book (example :Unix for Dummies) for everything under the sun except informix. : : I am also new to INFORMIX, and I found the informix documentations are very : helpful. You can find them on the informix home page. There is a new book called "Informix Basics" (October, 1998; Prentice Hall; ISBN: 0130807990) which is an excellent introduction to using Informix. It is really oriented towards users with coverage of SQL and Informix's various products (such as DBACCESS, ESQL/C, 4GL, etc.). It also includes a CBT Informix tutorial on a CDROM (which I haven't used). If you are also involved in configuring Informix along with database administration, then a book such as "Informix-Online Dynamic Server Handbook" (1997; Prentice Hall; ISBN: 0136052967) is a good choice. While the Informix manuals and online help are certainly comprehensive, I tend to find these books easier to read and better introductory guides. cheers, MARK
