The highest TPC-C benchmark on a more normally configured 4-processor Intel-based box using NT4.0 Enterprise and SQLServer 6.5 was around 12,000 tpm. By contrast, the highest TPC-C benchmark for any relational database on any platform was 51,000 tpm done by a Sun box running SPARC Solaris and Oracle8. Looks like SQLServer on NT has quite a ways to go compared to Oracle (and Informix and Sybase, for that matter). You should look at this info for yourself at www.tpc.org.
