Need help with 4GL in HP VUE environment
Posted in 1996
I am new to the HP VUE environment and I'm hving all sorts of fun trying to get some quick and dirty 4GL apps to work in an hpterm window. I think the problems all revolve around getting a termcap file which actually works. As an example, in the middle of an input statement on a screen form the user can either press <esc> to accept or <f9> to cancel. Using either key causes the app to blow up and die. I've put display code in both the "on key" statements and find that neither is being executed, the app just jumps to the line following the end input statement. I put a display of the value returned by fgl_lastkey there. Regardless of which function key (or <esc>) was pressed, the value is always the same -- 2016. That seems a little out of range for a valid ascii value -- at least on the charts I have. So I was wondering if anyone has successfully modified a termcap so that character based 4GL will work in HP VUE. I have tried the termcap file that came in $INFORMIXDIR/etc but that had no effect. I have also tried the tctermcap file in the same directory but I received a "termcap entry is too long" error. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
