INFORMIX-NET problem.. perhaps not?

Hi, informixers! Could anybody explain me, why INFORMIX-NET works so slo-o-owly? When I do a simple selection from table directly from server, query executes as fast as it expected. By when I do it through INFORMIX-NET, rows appear one per second :(. Is it normally? (Believe me, it's not network problem. If I use local server, there is the same problem).
