Re: Help Shared memory not initiialized on DEC OSF/1

This may sound silly, but _HOW_ did you "create" the rootdbs? We usually just "touch" the file, then create the dbspace with tbinit. Trying to run tbmonitor without using tbinit will give you similar error messages. Example: in TBCONFIG file: ROOTDBS /dbdir/rootdbs Then, enter: tbmode -ky tbinit -iy I hardly claim to be an expert at Informix, but it always works for me. (trust me, I've flaked out before and got the "Shared memory not initialized" messages....just by forgetting something) You may have to wait for the On-line engine to report "On-Line" before continuing....(reported to device specified by MSGPATH in TBCONFIG file) Good luck -- brandon Brandon Ausman Open/OLTP Unisys Corporation E-Mail: brandon%unislc@uunet.uu.net Unix Systems Group OR MS D1V03 bta0791@risky.wcslc.edu 322 North 2200 West Salt Lake City, Utah 84105 (801) 594-5584
