Oh the irony...

Everyone says that it takes two to tango. So how is it that prior to the purchase of MySQL by Sun, that MySQL could get a TPC-H benchmark published? Yeah, its kind of ironic that we hear so many people belly ache on how difficult it is to get any sort of benchmarking done. Yet TPC.org doesn't lie. The significance is that on a 'no name' platform along with MySQL, its crushes the competition in terms of a lower cost per transaction. So one has to ask... why isn't there an IDS benchmark in TPC-H, TPC-C, or TPC-E? I mean heck! Has DB2 been ported to the cell environment? Why doesn't Sony launch a benchmark of a cluster of PS3s running Linux and IDS? Now that would be something to watch! But hey! What do I know? I'm playing with Javascript and Dojo. :-) -G
