I find that :if you kick it off manually, it stays up happily every time - not :forgetting :that it's a 3.1 (explicitly not 3.5) product. sqlexecd is not installed as a service. I start it manually. I have seen the same behaviour on three other systems using NT 3.5. All three machines (different brands) were SCSI/PCI based, and all three used the MS loopback ethernet driver.
