I searched the recent archive posted to the > Informix list, but no luck... > Corinne, Yeah, you need one for each term you support. What I did was put a line in /etc/profile which mailed me the user id + their term variable and ran that for several months to get a list of terms that were being used. I don't have a termcap entry for a vt220, but you can convert the terminfo entry fairly easily. I would do it for you, but ... I've tacked on a description of how to do this that I sent somebody some time ago. If you prefer, set your INFORMIXTERM to /usr/lib/terminfo, os some such rot (Appendix E of 4gl vol2, I think) and use terminfo instead. You won't get color, but you won't have to do this either. m|dec vt220 7 bit, am, xenl, cols#80, it#8, lines#24, lm#0, bel=^G, cr=\\r, csr=\\E[%i%p1%d;%p2%dr, tbc=\\E[3g, clear=\\E[H\\E[2J, el=\\E[K, ed=\\E[J, cup=\\E[%i%p1%d;%p2%dH, cud1=\\n, home=\\E[H, civis=\\E[?25l, cub1=\\b, cnorm=\\E[?25h, cuf1=\\E[C, cuu1=\\E[A, dch1=\\E[1P, dl1=\\E[1M, blink=\\E[5m, bold=\\E[1m, rev=\\E[7m, smso=\\E[7m, smul=\\E[4m, sgr0=\\E[m, rmso=\\E[m, rmul=\\E[m, ich1=\\E[1@, il1=\\E[1L, kbs=\\b, kdch1=\\E[3~, kcud1=\\EOB, kf1=\\E[17~, kf2=\\E[18~, kf3=\\E[19~, kf4=\\E[20~, kf5=\\E[21~, kf6=\\E[23~, kf7=\\E[24~, kf8=\\E[25~, khome=\\E[1~, kich1=\\E[2~, kcub1=\\EOD, knp=\\E[6~, kpp=\\E[5~, kcuf1=\\EOC, kcuu1=\\EOA, rmkx=\\E[?1l\\E>, smkx=\\E[?1h\\E=, dch=\\E[%p1%dP, dl=\\E[%p1%dM, cud=\\E[%p1%dB, il=\\E[%p1%dL, cub=\\E[%p1%dD, cuf=\\E[%p1%dC, cuu=\\E[%p1%dA, rs2=\\E>\\E[?3l\\E[?4l\\E[?5l\\E[?7h\\E[?8h, rc= \\E8, sc=\\E7, ind=\\n, ri=\\EM, sgr=\\E[%?%p1%t;1%;%?%p2%t;4%;%?%p3%t;7%;%?%p4%t; 5%;%?%p6%t;1%;m, hts=\\EH, ht=\\t, -- instructions Set your TERM=4410. untic > filename (already done above here) this will give you the uncompiled version which you already have. next convert it to termcap. look at terminfo(4) in system V programmers ref. manual. this lists each of the capabilities - what the key word is in terminfo and again in termcap. First go through your list and change all the terminfo names to termcap names. Next separate each sequence (so=\\e...) with a colon so that you wind up with something like: cm=5\\E[%i%2;%2H:co#80 next start each line with a colon -> :cm=5\\E[%i%2;%2H:co#80 end each line with a colon and a continuation line :cm=5\\E[%i%2;%2H:co#80:\\ EXCEPT for the last line - which gets no continuation - fancy that. Finally. on the first line enter a comment # AT&T 4410 ascii terminal then enter whatever you may want to call it when you do TERM=??, such as: 4410|ATT4410|.......:\\ # note the colon and cont. each name separated by a pipe "|" you should wind up with something like: (from our termcap file) # AT&T 510 personal terminal # June 6, 1985 # Bell 510 terminal definition b510|510|510pt:\\ :al=20\\E[L:am:bs:cd=50\\E[J:ce=3\\E[K:cl=50\\E[H\\E[J:\\ :cm=5\\E[%i%2;%2H:co#80:\\ :dc=2\\E[P:dl=20\\E[M:ei=\\E[4l:im=\\E[4h:\\ :kd=\\E[B:kh=\\E[H:kl=\\E[D:kr=\\E[C:ku=\\E[A:\\ :li#24:nd=\\E[C:se=2\\E[m:so=2\\E[2;7m:sr=5\\EM:\\ :ue=2\\E[m:up=2\\E[A:us=2\\E[4m:\\ :EE=\\E[m:BO=\\E[0;7m:DS=\\E[2m:FL=\\E[%dp%-15s|E?:FE=\\E<:\\ :is=\\E[m^O\\E[4;6;20l\\E[8;0|\\E[9;0|\\E[10;0|\\E[19;1|\\E[21;1|\\212:\\ :ve=\\E[11;1|:vs=\\E[11;2: then set your TERMCAP=filename - whatever you called this file set your TERM=4410 and try isql, for example. Look for what it does right or wrong. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty simple - just don't be - how shall I say - put off by the 'terseness' of the other entries. Other hint - \\E means escape. Be careful with some of the parameterized strings as they may not convert exactly. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Contractor | Hewlett Packard, BSMC Boise, Idaho, USA| I've forgotten more than jparker@hpbs2561.boi.hp.com | I ever knew (208) 323-5388 (W) (208) 384-1623 (H) | _____________________________________________________________________________
