Hi, I have a odd problem, i started this morning to upgrade ids 11.5 UC9x1 (sparc) to ids 12.1 FC2 (32bit to 64bit) , it went alright to the part when I fired up the 12.1 instance and it started to upgrade the old instance and run out of space in rootdbs and then crashed with an af and shmem dump. Thats no problem I thought I just start up the instance with the old binarys and then changed back to my 11.50 binarys and enveriments and started the instance and got these lines in the online.log : 12:37:40 Message 84922 not found. (DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM) 12:37:40 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Started. 12:37:40 Requested shared memory segment size rounded from 13312KB to 14336KB 12:37:40 Requested shared memory segment size rounded from 514288KB to 515072KB Mon Feb 10 12:37:40 2014 12:37:40 Requested shared memory segment size rounded from 110629KB to 111616KB 12:37:40 Successfully added a bufferpool of page size 2K. 12:37:40 Warning: ONCONFIG dump directory (DUMPDIR) '/opt/informix/115/tmp' has insecure permissions 12:37:40 Message 84634 not found. 12:37:40 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG = '/opt/informix/115/etc/alarmprogram.sh' 12:42:24 Message 84922 not found. (DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM) I have now fixed the insecure permissons on the DUMPDIR. Anyone have a bright idea of what to do? (I will of course make a case att the support at IBM in the morning). //Jimmy
Best to call IBM support. They can walk you through recovering from a failed upgrade. When you call, tell them you need "Down System Support". Art Art S. Yes... you should call IBM tech support. But you didn't follow the proper
procedure....
Old binaries can't recover an interrupted upgrade.... For years, the only
thing to do in those situations would be a restore of the old version.
But the proper procedure is to setup the following parameters:
CONVERSION_GUARD
RESTORE_POINT_DIR
These will activate the salvage of the before image pages during the
conversion process into the location specified by RESTORE_POINT_DIR.
If it fails then you run the onrestorept utility to restore those before
images into their location.
Only AFTER this you should restart the engine with the old binaries and
configuration
This is properly documented in:
