In Informix 7 many environment variables are transmitted as part of the connection process. I do not know for certain if the PSORT_ parameters are transmitted. On second thought they must be, remember in V7 the user's process (and therefore environment) are not directly known by the database processes in the same way that the V5 sqlturbo process inherited it so it MUST be included in the connection handshaking even for a local client.
