Hi , We r facing this problem while installing RogueWave DBTools.h++. and problem crops up during compilation of Informix Access library " Inf0311u " thanks The environment variable THREADLIB hasn't been set. /usr1/spm/parts/inf0311u/source/etc/modify[139]: esql: not found Please set THREADLIB as required by the Informix client utilities, and start the library build process again. PartMgr ERROR 1: modify script failed at/usr1/spm/workspaces/SOLARIS26/SUNPRO42 /7d/buildloc/inf0311u PartMgr ERROR 1: genmake failed in rwbuild exiting rwenv: ERROR 1

It would appear that DBTools.h++ is trying to run the ESQ:C compiler script and is failing to find it -- the "esql: not found" message. The install script is misinterpreting this as a secondary problem; it is assuming that you do have esql on your PATH and have not set the auxilliary environment variable THREADLIB which would cause the esql compiler to fail when DBTools.h++ is trying to compile a threaded version of its library. * Make sure you have ESQL/C installed on your machine, probably as part of ClientSDK. * Make sure you can compile simple ESQL/C programs. If you downloaded DBD::Informix, there's a program esqlbasic.ec in it. If you cannot compile and run that using: esql -o esqlbasic esqlbasic.ec ./esqlbasic then you need to fix your ESQL/C environment. Note that if the program runs but fails to open a database, this is OK; it is designed to help in the build and test of DBD::Informix (an extension to Perl) and it has some extra requirements in terms of the databases which must exist and/or be identified by environment variables. * You then need to ensure that you can build threaded ESQL/C programs; at least, that's my interpretation of the RW error messages. You could try simply compiling: esql -o esqlbasic -thread esqlbasic.ec However, I am not sure whether that is an adequate test. If you cannot get it to compile like that, then you definitely have some work to do; however, if it compiles, it may not actually tell you anything useful. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
