That's a loaded and VERY broad question. It depends on the resources
available, how much of those you want to allocate to the database
server, what kind of AIO you are using. We run on a 32CPU system using
AIO VPs, rather than KAIO. We run 28 CPU VPs, 20 NET VPs, 80-160 AIO
VPs depending on the machine (we have over 160 logical disks on some),
along with the LIO, PIO, ADM, & MSC VPs this adds up to between 132 and
212 oninit processes running. On our development machine however, I do
not want or need to dedicate to whole machine to the server so 8 CPU
VPs, 8 NET VPs, 20 AIO VPs, etc suffice on a machine with the same 32
physical CPUs available.
