Re: Opening forms in 4GL

There was a thread on this not so long ago. Briefly; Informix will use the DBPATH environment variable to search for forms. I typically have something like: /usr/foo Which has in foo foo.dbs, 4gi, forms, spool and help (all subdirectories). DBPATH=/usr/foo/forms:/usr/foo/4gi:/usr/foo: Then you can open a form in your code by using open form freddo from "freddo" and Informix will find it by searching along DBPATH. One trap for the unwary: Informix looks in your current working directory FIRST so if you have 2 forms with the same name, the first one found is the one used. No problem once you are aware of it but it can cause some head-scratching. Dittofor the path; first form found with the correct name wins. Peter Wiley
