(Presumably more likely to be a problem with RAID than LVM)? And if you take a set of disks, call them a single partition and then just build a single chunk on it, you're losing all the possible benefits of a true multi-disk strategy - of which the more recent OnLine manuals go to such pains to stress the importance.
