BTW, the program is talking to a standard engine (version }5.00.UC2) on another machine through I-NET. I would suggest that the engine which writes the explain file is on the other machine. Exactly where the file is written on the other machine is anyone's guess -- I'd try root (/) first, then $INFORMIXDIR, and then find / -name sqexplain.out -print There is an outside chance that no file is written at all in this environment.
