Hi, Kindly provide the soln for the following problem While generating an unibol file whenever the file size exceeds 2GB the system aborts with system error. We have the Unix file size limit beyond 2gb and are able to generate ASCII file greater than 2 GB we actually do not know what should done for RPG/UNIBOL Is there any soln to this problem? Any pointers will also help. The Server is HP Unix 11. Regards, Deba sending to informix-list

Please always provide your Informix version with questions. However I'd speculate here that you have a version prior to 9.40. In these version there is a limitation of Informix (*) that precludes an ASCII file of greater size than 2GBytes from being written out, irrespective of the capabilities of the operating system. * This is the cue for Jonathan Leffler to reply and point out that my assertion that this an Informix, rather than OS, limitation is bollocks.
Have you trolled this newsgroup for this? I had found two work-arounds for the 2GB limit already listed, last time I looked. One was J. Leffler's SQLCMD, the other was using a named pipe (mknod ... -p). SQLCMD is at the IIUG web site.
