PHP/PDO maintained? *NM*
Posted in 2008
Poster running Apache 2.2.4 / PHP 5.2.5 asked whether the PECL PDO_INFORMIX driver is still maintained, since he kept getting "PDO: driver informix requires PDO API version 20060409; this is PDO version 20060511" fatal errors. IBM replied that PDO_INFORMIX is actively maintained (it underpins the Open Admin Tool) and supported via IBM Tech Support, and that PDO_IBM can't be built against the Informix CSDK because it needs the CLI driver from the IBM Data Server client. Another user reported PDO_INFORMIX working fine on PHP 5.2.5, but no fix for the poster's version-mismatch error is recorded.

Here it is again (attempt), looks like the forum ate the body of my message - Is the PDO driver for Informix actively maintained? I've got Apache 2.2.4 and PHP 5.2.5. We are getting allot of messages like: PHP Fatal error: PDO: driver informix requires PDO API version 20060409; this is PDO version 20060511 in Unknown on line 0 It looks like the last release of PDO_INFORMIX was on 2007-02-13 http://pecl.php.net/package/PDO_INFORMIX
Adam -- PDO_INFORMIX is actively maintained and you may contact IBM Tech Support for support for it. Adam -- FYI: The new Open Admin Tool, which has proven very popular with Informix customers, also uses the PDO_INFORMIX driver. Regards, Mac Gerling

Ok, I'm not saying PDO_INFORMIX is bad or has any fundamental issues. We use PDO, but under more recent versions of PHP it produces a conspicuous error message and is less stable. As an aside, I see that PDO_IBM <http://pecl.php.net/package/PDO_IBM> has more recent versions and claims compatibility with IDS 11.10 (which we are running) [using DRBA I assume]. Any using PDO_IBM? I've tried to but it doesn't seem to build against the Informix SDK.
Adam -- The PDO_IBM driver uses the common CLI driver to connect to IDS. Because the CLI driver is included in the IBM Data Server client bundles only, you cannot build PDO_IBM with the Informix CSDK. Regards, Mac Gerling

Because this just doesn't work. Having built PDO_IBM and seeing PDO_IBM in phpinfo() it still just barfs with - adam@yannigan-red:~> php -f pdo.php PHP Fatal error: PDO: driver ibm requires PDO API version 20060409; this is PDO version 20060511 in Unknown on line 0 PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'could not find driver' in /srv/www/vhosts/adam/pdo.php:5 Stack trace: #0 /srv/www/vhosts/adam/pdo.php(5): PDO->__construct('ibm:host=;servi...', 'adam', '**********') #1 {main} thrown in /srv/www/vhosts/adam/pdo.php on line 5 adam@yannigan-red:~ I'm completely stumped and the documentation is just this side of worthless. I'm using PHP 5.2.5.
We are using PDO_INFORMIX with php version 5.2.5 with no problems at all. I just works. I have had some issues with getting started, but once over the learning curve, it works as advertized!
