RE: IDS - DSS version

Some time ago (1998?), XPS was renamed to "IDS with extended parallel option' and 'IDS with decision support option' The double-name trick was caused by the fact, that 8.20 supported some new decision-support features like bitmap indexes but didn't support share-nothing. Share-nothing (extended parallel option) was only available in 8.11 and was re-introduced in 8.21 Starting with 8.21, both options could be used together. Later, Informix decided to re-introduce XPS brand again P.S. At the same time when XPS was renamed, Informix Universal Server ( 9.xx) was renamed to 'IDS with Universal Data option' ------------------------------------------ Alexey Sonkin > -----Original Message----- > From: Jonathan Leffler [mailto:jleffler@earthlink.net] > Sent: Friday, August 20, 2004 9:55 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: IDS - DSS version > > rkusenet wrote: > > "Fernando Nunes" <spam@domus.online.pt> wrote > >>There is no product based on IDS code base dedicated to DSS... > >>Unless someone has a secret project ;) > > > > This is my understanding too. I'd forgotten that XPS acquired the ADSO (advanced decision support option) tag -- but it ties in with my initial bid of 'XPS' as the answer to the original question. > P.S. At the same time when XPS was renamed, Informix Universal > Server ( 9.xx) was renamed to 'IDS with Universal Data option' Yes - and then IDS 2000 (and Informix Internet Foundation or IIF 2000) and now back to IDS again (mostly). >From: Jonathan Leffler [mailto:jleffler@earthlink.net] >>rkusenet wrote: >>>"Fernando Nunes" <spam@domus.online.pt> wrote >>>>There is no product based on IDS code base dedicated to DSS... >>>>Unless someone has a secret project ;) >>> >>> This is my understanding too.
