Two simple questions

Two questions from a neophyte: Does Informix support an API to SE and/or OnLine? I am looking for something like Oracle's OCI or Sybase's DB-LIB rather than the pre-compiled ESQL. How is the concept of "user" handled in OnLine? When I looked at the ESQL demo programs there is no connect verb, everything seems to depend on the OS username. If I attempt to manage multipule transactions from the same OS process my commits/rollbacks seem to affect _all_ the transactions. Is it possible to establish separate user contexts within the same OS process? thanks, charlie peck charliep@earlham.edu
