We've been using JAM 5 and 6 together with Informix Online 5, ISQL and ESQL/C, and we did complete the project. So, indeed, it works together. However, we decided to move away from JAM as first, we did not make use of the UI portability, and second, JAM turned out not to be flexible enough with regard to dynamic changes of the UI. This is hardly supported by any GUI builder, but can be handled by Motif quite well. So now we're using a GUI builder specially for Motif which allows integration of handmade UI-related source code as well. We have no experience with NewEra, though.
