Reproducing An Error In IDS 11.10 FC/UC
Posted in 2007
We have a procedure that is causing assertion in an IDS V11.10FC1 engine; we're trying to get this version rolled out and this is not a positive step. A PRM is open and details have been passed along to IBM Technical Support; but they can't reproduce it. The same results occur in IDS 11.10FC1 and IDS 11.10UC1, both on Red Hat 4.5 (2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp). The error does not occur in production IDS V10 engine or the prior V9.4. We have narrowed the error to what seems like a string formatting or concatenation problem. The routine formats two dates into a string then converts them back to a date. --- FAILS --- LET sdate = to_char(....) || ' ' || to_char( ... ); LET ddate = TO_DATE( sdate, ... ); -- WORKS --- to_date( to_char( ...) || ' ' || to_char(...)) The root cause of the error can be shown with a simple select: select to_char( current, '%m-%d-%Y' ) || ' ' || to_char( current, '%H:%M' ) from table( set{0} ); V11: "11-" V10: "11-20-2007 10:02" Without a properly formatted string, the to_date() call is going to fail. I am trying to determine if I have a configuration/library problem in my environment or if there is really a bug in the engine. Changing the one procedure is simple; finding other instances a bit more complex. I'm mostly concerned about there being an underlying problem that we have yet to discover. So, if anyone has this configuration and can run the select statement through to see if you get the abbreviated result I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance, John Moore
