Restore from Level 0 Backup

Hi All, My server is running IDS7.3 on SCO Unix. Currently server instance is in Fast recovery mode due to long transaction roll back. I plan to restore from Level 0 backup after some trobleshooting, but can somebody advise me on the restore process. Is it possible to restore level 0 without restore logical logs, cause all the while the LTAPDEV to /dev/NULL. From Rick
Hi,
it depends on how you did your backup.
Backups done with "ontape" can always be restored without
logical logs. Use "ontape -r". From there on it is interactive.
Backups done with ON-Bar can be restored without logical
logs only if they are whole system backups (i.e. done with
"onbar -b -w [-L 0]"). They can be restored using "onbar -r -w".
ON-Bar backups that are not whole system backups (i.e. were
done without the "-w" command line parameter) can not be
restored without logical log restore.
I hope you've one of the first two scenarios.
Regards,
Martin

Hi, in IDS9.21, is possible restore from backup without restore logs. When recovery starting, the process ask you if backup the logical logs, answer No. After that, follow the rest of the process. Hope this help. Paola Mensaje citado por "CHEE KHUAN ...." <ckleong@rts.com.my>: > Hi All, > My server is running IDS7.3 on SCO Unix. With ontape, yes; with onbar,
yes if you did a whole system backup, no if you used a parallel backup
strategy.
Take care.
