How do you update corresponding rows on the same table after a row on the table has been updated?

This is my goal: When specific columns in a row, in a table, are updated, corresponding columns in other rows in the same table need to be updated with the same values as changes to the initial row. This would work if I need to update other columns on the same row: Passing parameters from an update trigger to a stored procedure and using the into keyword on the trigger, works for updating column(s) on the row that the trigger event caused. I need to make updates to other rows, not the initial row. Also before the corresponding columns are changed, the initial values of these columns, need to be moved to other columns in the same row.
