We run ONLINE 5.07 & ODS 7.21 and have always used larger tape arrays (7 4MM DATs @ 4GB each previously now we use an array of 5 20GB DLT drives giving 100GB, 200 w/compression less 20% for RAID redundancy). We set TAPEDEV to 120000000 because much of our data does not compress well and beleive me we use two tape sets to back up the 130GB of data we have not 65sets that would be required if there were a 2GB tape limit. Also for the original poster, Ontape does not detect EOT it just writes until it has written TAPESIZE Kbytes or gets an I/O error. In the former case it closes the file and prompts for a new tape. In the latter case it closes the file and aborts. Art S. Kagel
