I also see this problem when dialed up, when using a direct connect terminal, and on the console in an xterm. Usually when I see it is during a repeat (holding-the-key-down kind of repeat) of, say, an arrow key. I tried setting DBESCWAIT to 1... 2... 10... 60... I actually saw no difference. (Online 5.0, RDS 4.1) My plan, if this persists into actual user testing, is to redefine the keymap on the PC-terminals so they don't send escape based sequences!
