Number of oninit processes
Online 7.3 UC6 on RS6000 AIX 4.2.1 (390)
I have 3 instances running on this system. For the first system I have 12
oninit processes running, for the second one i have 16 oninit processes
running and for the last one, I have 24 oninit processes running. What
causes these differences ?

The best way to determine this is to run onstat -g glo.
Be aware that if the number of aiovps is not configured, then the number of
aiovps is calculated from the number of chunks in the instance.
