I think the big problem with charging $A for runtime and $B for a development engine is that they are basically the same. If the development engine gave anything over a runtime engine, extra utilities, extra support, etc., then the extra dollars can be justified. I guess the extra value you get is the license to develop with that engine, versus you can't with a runtime engine. But why can't there be a single price for the engine? They already charge for the development tools, can't develop without those. An engine is an engine is an engine. There is nothing to substatiate the price increase except policy. As a physical entity, the dev. engine doesn't seem to offer anything more than a runtime engine. Will (uunet!la4gen!villy)
