DEC did alright, they were bought by a company with lots of money and an interest in continuing to sell their products. I don't think there is a Compaq around for Informix. :-) All Informix need is to hire a decent marketing agency. It's simple I know, but it beats trying to hire the right people. I for one am expecting to see some very positive results in the near future from Infx hiring S&S. They (S&S) are doing their homework right now -- "focus groups" around the US, and even a few overseas. Infx recognizes very well that they have had ineffective marketing in the past. The new management team is working hard to fix that, as well as to fix many other customer-relationship problems. Yeah, I know... "I've heard all this before"... But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, this time. AFAIK, this is really the first time that Infx management has really admitted to past company failings and faced up to them -- without trying to rationalize and make excuses. In case you can't tell, I am really encouraged by what I am hearing and by what I am *seeing* coming from Infx these days. Let's give them a chance... Paul Mosser
