Re: Powerbuilder to Informix - Poor Network Throughput

We largely use Inet 5.01.WF1 for the same reasons you do. I just got an eval copy of 5.01.WJ1 or 2 I believe. I'll post if I have any problems with it. It looks ok after a cursory once over.... We do have SymBEL, have only used it a little so far, but will use it among several other ideas we have. As I mentioned, its the dull, old, boring character result sets that are slow as slugs. The one case where we select big BLOBS works pretty well. Our environment of PB4, Inet 5.01.WF1 and online 7.13 is about as straightforward as C/S gets. We're going to see if PB5 makes any difference maybe this week. In a couple of weeks some really sexy sniffer hardware should be available, hopefully it will help. As for FDDI's fixed bandwidth, well, I can usually be happy being fixed at 100 MBits per second. It's this fixed 28.8 KBps that annoys me....;-) Thanks for taking an interest...gm. Chao Y.
