"Can Illustra Scale?" Of course www.illustra.com has some words on what performance might mean. My thought is that scalable performance from Illustra is a function of time and the timing of functionality. What? Well, if you need the functionality of the Illustra product line, there's no other way to get it -- so Illustra is a foregone decision. If you need a new application to deliver scalable performance, Informix will ship Universal Server this year -- so there's another decision. Universal Server is the evolution of the INFORMIX-OnLine RDBMS and the Illustra ORDBMS into the new wave of database servers which will deliver both the appeal of Illustra and the workhorse power of dear old OnLine. This is a low risk situation. You already know that Illustra is stable and does what it is alleged to do. OnLine speaks for itself. Bringing these two products into one entity will combine two architectures without compromising the fundamental design brilliance of the respect products. Also, if you pick up any other groups that commonly have Illustra threads, please let me know.
